As per reports, Microsoft (MSFT) is working on a new round of technologies aimed at making its cloud computing services work in data centers it does not own, including the cloud data centers of its rivals. The tech giant’s strategy involves building its most profitable cloud software services, such as database tools so that it can run inside its own data centers, the ones owned by customers or even of its rivals.

Microsoft, which is second only to market leader Amazon.com’s Amazon Web Services in cloud computing services informed that revenue from Azure, its flagship cloud offering, rose 48%, placing it to overtake Apple Inc as the world’s most valuable publicly-traded company.
