By John F. Heerdink, Jr.

As per reports, recently IDC reported that Apple realized an a 29% decline in global PC shipments during Q1 2023, citing weak demand, excess inventory, and a deteriorating macroeconomic climate as factors. Dell Technologies came in second with a drop of 31%, while Lenovo Group Ltd, Asustek Computer Inc, and HP Inc also faced declines in shipmen

“The preliminary results also represented a coda to the era of COVID-driven demand and at least a temporary return to pre-COVID patterns. Shipment volume in Q1 2023 was noticeably lower than the 59.2 million units shipped in Q1 2019 and 60.6 million in Q1 2018,” IDC stated.

Apple reported a 29% YoY decline in Mac sales to $7.7 billion during their latest quarter. The dip in PC shipments is linked to various factors such as the shift towards mobile devices and the decrease in remote work as people return to in-person work setups.
