As per reports, PepsiCo (PEP) is reportedly set to receive its first delivery of Tesla (TSLA) Semi trucks in the fourth quarter informed the beverage giant’s CEO Ramon Laguarta at the 26th United Nations Climate Change Conference, or COP26. However, the number of trucks to be delivered was not disclosed.
The news comes almost after four years after PepsiCo first announced it would purchase 100 Tesla Semi trucks, the largest known pre-order of the vehicle at the time. The truck production was scheduled to begin in 2019 but was delayed due to the high volume of its 4680 battery cells required, informed CEO Elon Musk. During the second-quarter earnings call in July, Tesla informed it will push the Semi production to 2022 due to the supply chain issues and the limited availability of battery cells.
