Chevron Meets United Steelworkers Union (USW) Over Refinery Strike – $CVX $DIA

By John F. Heerdink, Jr.

As per reports, Chevron Corporation (CVX) and the United Steelworkers union (USW) recently met to end a 3-week-old strike by 500 workers at the company’s Richmond, California, refinery marking the first face-to-face discussion between the two sides. The first vice president of USW Local 12-5, B.K. White informed that the union had received a proposal from the company and was preparing for a reply.

Chevron continued operating the 245,271-barrel-per-day (BPD) with managers and supervisors but has begun advertising for temporary replacement workers in online placed ads. The ads list pay of $70 an hour for the temporary replacement workers who will be hired for up to five months, according to the advertisements. The strike began after the Local 12-5 twice rejected contract offers from Chevron.

Dow 30 component Chevron Corporation (CVX), through its subsidiaries, engages in integrated energy, chemicals, and petroleum operations worldwide.  To learn more about Chevron (CVX) and to track their progress please visit the Vista Partners Chevron Page.
