Reportedly, messaging platform Discord Inc. to end deal talks with Microsoft Inc. (MSFT) and focus on expanding the business as a standalone company through its chat platform and doing business from its user base that has grown rapidly during the pandemic, as per sources. Earlier it was reported in March, that Microsoft was in talks to buy Discord for more than $10 billion.
San Francisco-based, Discord allows private and public groups to come together and chat by text, audio, and video. It has expanded from a gamers club to all types of communities like music groups, including sports fans, and cryptocurrency investors. With more than140 a million users, Discord’s business model stands out in the social network space where companies, like Facebook Inc and Twitter Inc, rely on advertising for the bulk of the revenue.
