As per reports, Microsoft Corp. (MSFT) is in talks to acquire Discord Inc., a video-game chat community for more than $10 billion.
Discord, a San Francisco-based company is well-known for its free service allowing gamers to communicate by voice, text, and video. During pandemic people stuck at home have significantly used its technology for group activities, dance classes, and virtual gatherings. The company has been talking to promising buyers, and Microsoft is in the lead.
As per sources, Discord reached out to Microsoft to gauge interest, and Microsoft Xbox chief Phil Spencer is in talks to the company. Last year, Microsoft was in talks to buy social-media app TikTok and Pinterest Inc., which has been looking for assets that would provide access to thriving communities of users.
