As reported in the Wall Street Journal, Goldman Sachs Group Inc. (GS) is in talks with JetBlue Airways Corp to take over its credit card program. The bank is competing with Barclays PLC, which is the current issuer of JetBlue’s credit cards and is reportedly in talks with the low-cost airline to strike the deal.
The move by Goldman is the latest in its list of initiatives by the bank to reduce reliance on volatile trading and investment banking businesses and move the focus towards its consumer banking unit.
