Reportedly, International Business Machines Corporation (IBM) has entered hybrid cloud deals with global telecommunication giants Verizon and Spain’s Telefonica as the company aims to build out 5G and edge networks. The deal expands on existing partnerships IBM has with the two telecom operators. IBM will provide Verizon and Telefonica with services ranging from running 5G over a cloud platform to using artificial intelligence.
IBM’s cloud services will help the telcos run their networks and assist them in selling products tailored to customers. IBM CEO Arvind Krishna also announced that telecoms can now access AI-powered automation software through the new IBM Cloud Pak for Network Automation, which runs anywhere on Red Hat OpenShift.
