Reportedly, UnitedHealthcare (UNH) is offering its fully insured members (approximately 3 million) in most states with Apple (AAPL) watch to sign up for Apple Fitness+ and get a 12-month subscription at no additional cost to Apple Fitness+, starting Nov 1. The first fitness service is built entirely around Apple Watch. The offer is the first such offer for Apple Fitness+ by a health insurance plan.
Employers with self-funded health plans will, starting next year, be able to purchase an “Apple Fitness Bundle,” which will give them a 12-month subscription to Apple Fitness+ in addition to a $25 Apple digital gift card. Apple Fitness+ brings studio-style workouts and guided Meditations to iPhone, iPad, and Apple TV.
UnitedHealthcare members can enjoy access to an on-demand library of over 1,200 workouts and Meditations. Workout diary includes Strength, High-Intensity Interval Training (HIIT), Yoga, Dance, Cycling, Core, Treadmill (for running and walking), Rowing and Mindful Cooldown, and Pilates and guided Meditation, starting Sept. 27.
