As per reports, The Walt Disney Company’s (DIS) Disneyland and other theme parks in California are expected to reopen from April 1 after nearly a year of closure due to the coronavirus pandemic, subject to their removal from the “purple” tier which is the system’s most strict classification for Covid-19 restrictions. The parks are allowed to re-open with limited capacity and all safety measures in place. Initially, the park would be open only to state residents and 15% of the normal capacity. Outdoor stadiums, ballparks, and performance arenas would also be allowed to welcome back live audiences starting April 1 with seating restrictions.
For amusement parks, counties in the “red” tier of California’s four-tier reopening risk system with red, being the second-highest risk category will be limited to attendance of 15 percent capacity. In the orange tier, the limit increases to 25 percent capacity, and in the yellow tier, to 35 percent.
“With case rates and hospitalizations significantly lower, the arrival of three highly effective vaccines and targeted efforts aimed at vaccinating the most vulnerable communities, California can begin gradually and safely bringing back more activities, especially those that occur outdoors and where consistent masking is possible,” stated Dr. Mark Ghaly, secretary of California’s Health and Human Services Agency.
