Walmart Stores, Inc. (WMT) is offering free classes to the public for personal and career investment as an initiative to give back to the community.
Andy Trainor, Vice President of Learning, released a statement stating details about the Community Academy initiative. The program aims to help communities struggling economically to have access to education. The program is free and leverages a network of 200+ Walmart Academies in stores across the country to offer educational opportunities to anyone in the community, whether an associate or not. The Community Academy virtual courses are now available nationwide at no cost, and registration is open to all. The Community curriculum involves Walmart’s own subject matter experts along with industry leaders to ensure that the content is best-in-class.
The courses are divided into one of five overall themes – Community, Personal Finance, Home, Career Progression, and Technology, with further expansion in coming years. All Community courses will be under the guidance of Walmart Academy facilitators, who have guided the store associates through more than two million Academy training sessions on topics ranging from store processes to leadership and soft skills.
