Reportedly, Walmart Stores, Inc. (WMT) and America’s #1 TV streaming platform, Roku, Inc. (ROKU) have entered a first-of-its-kind partnership making TV streaming the next e-commerce shopping destination. Walmart as an exclusive retailer will enable streamers to purchase featured products fulfilled by Walmart directly on Roku.
The unique partnership focuses on shopping beyond the QR code and will change the way customers interact and shop TV and video content. One-of-a-kind experience offers product discovery with a seamless checkout experience, allowing customers to purchase directly at the time of inspiration. Viewers simply press “OK” with the remote on a shoppable ad and proceed to checkout with their payment details easily pre-populated from Roku’s payments platform, Roku Pay. After, tapping “OK” on the Walmart checkout page customer can place the order. Walmart then emails a purchase confirmation with shipping, return, and support information.
Roku’s ad-buying platform for TV streaming, OneView, will have the capability to activate and measure these shoppable ads. Also, marketers will be able to use Roku Brand Studio to design custom creative and branded content made for TV streaming and shopping.
