Doximity, Inc. (NYSE: DOCS) reports fiscal first-quarter 2027 results after the market close on August 6, and the stock enters the print with the kind of setup that can either confirm a breakout story or remind investors that healthcare software, like a hospital elevator, occasionally moves with unnerving discretion. The company is expected to face questions about growth, margin pressure from AI spending, and whether its physician platform can keep translating engagement into durable monetization. Yet the bullish case seems to remain intact, and it is not a small one. Doximity ended fiscal 2026 with revenue of $644.9 million, up 13% year over year, operating cash flow of $326.5 million, and free cash flow of $317.5 million, while guiding fiscal 2027 revenue to $664 million to $676 million and adjusted EBITDA to $323 million to $335 million. In a market that often mistakes “story stock” for “story with no math,” DOCS at least brings a calculator.

The Real Test: Can Growth Outrun the AI Bill?

The biggest question on Thursday is not whether Doximity has AI, but whether it can keep monetizing its large physician network while funding the next phase of product development. Management has already signaled that AI-related compute and investment costs will weigh on margins in the near term, and the market clearly heard that message when the company outlined its fiscal 2027 outlook. That said, Doximity is not throwing money at artificial intelligence in the dark. The company recently said Doximity Ask outranked OpenEvidence and several frontier models in independent testing, a result that gives its AI ambitions something better than buzzwords: evidence. For investors, that matters because specialized clinical software tends to win on workflow, relevance, and trust — not on who can write the prettiest demo script..

A Platform With Real Reach

Doximity’s scale remains one of its strongest assets. The company said more than 85% of U.S. physicians are on the platform, over 800,000 active prescribers used its workflow tools in the fourth quarter, and nearly half of providers used clinical AI tools. That kind of penetration is hard to replicate, especially in healthcare, where distribution usually costs more than the product itself. The result is a business that still looks unusually efficient for a healthcare technology name. Even after investing in AI, Doximity has shown it can generate substantial cash, and that gives it optionality: it can keep building, keep selling, and keep widening the moat without begging the market for patience in all caps.

What Wall Street Will Watch on August 6

Investors will focus on four things: whether revenue growth reaccelerates, whether AI usage continues to rise, whether management keeps margins on a controlled leash, and whether pharma demand remains steady enough to support the ad and workflow businesses. If Doximity can show that the AI spending is creating product advantage rather than just expense line poetry, the market may be willing to look through near-term pressure. There is also the sentiment factor. Doximity’s guidance last quarter landed below some expectations, and that left the stock with something to prove. But earnings season has a habit of rewarding companies that can tell a believable story and back it up with numbers; Doximity heads into the print with both the story and enough numbers to make it interesting.

The Bull Case In Plain English

If the company delivers another solid quarter, DOCS could reassert itself as a rare blend of profitable growth, sticky distribution, and AI relevance in a sector where all three are often promised and only one is usually delivered. The easy version of the thesis is that Doximity is a physician network; the better version is that it is becoming the operating layer for modern clinical workflows.
