U.S. stocks finished Monday mixed to firmer as investors balanced easing oil prices, ongoing earnings season developments, and anticipation of major Federal Reserve and Big Tech catalysts later in the week. The session’s close reflected a market that remains constructive, but still selective, with leadership concentrated in growth and technology while broader sentiment stayed tied to macro headlines.

Market Close

At the close on Monday, the Dow Jones Industrial Average (^DJI) & the S&P 500 (^GSPC) closed slightly in positive territory, and Nasdaq Composite (^IXIC) ended the day slightly below Friday’s close. The markets were supported by softer crude prices that fell 8.29% to $81.01 post the U.S. cease fire that increased an appetite overall for equities. The move higher suggested that investors were willing to add risk despite lingering uncertainty around policy, valuation, and earnings guidance. The day’s action reinforced a familiar pattern: dip-buying remains active, but the market is still sensitive to any sign that corporate results or economic data could disrupt the rally. That makes the close important not just for the headline index levels, but for the message it sends about investor confidence heading into a heavy event week. However, on the negative side of the markets NVIDIA (NVDA, $196.51, -4.99%) and AMD (AMD, $494.95, -5.17%) were hit relatively hard Monday as investors trimmed exposure to crowded AI chip trades, with leverage-related selling, valuation concerns, and renewed questions about the pace and financing of AI infrastructure spending all weighing on the group. The small caps on the Russell 2000 closed .62% higher at 2,948.04 and are now up +18.78% YTD.

Macro Backdrop

Lower oil prices helped steady the tape by easing inflation pressure, which can improve sentiment across equities, especially rate-sensitive sectors. At the same time, the market continues to weigh whether cooling energy costs and stable growth are enough to offset elevated expectations for earnings and future Fed policy. This is still a market where macro and micro are tightly linked. Strong earnings can extend the rally, but any soft guidance may trigger a sharper reaction because valuations remain elevated and investors are demanding proof of durability.

Company Note

One company-specific catalyst worth noting was T3 Defense Inc. (Nasdaq: DFNS, $13.10, +201.15% on Monday), whose subsidiary ITS delivered a custom composite materials production line to a leading Israeli building materials manufacturer. The announcement highlights how execution-driven milestones can create attention for smaller industrial and defense-linked names even on a broad market day dominated by index performance. For investors and readers, the key takeaway is that Monday’s close showed underlying resilience in U.S. equities, but the market is still being driven by a combination of macro relief, earnings scrutiny, and selective stock-specific catalysts.

These data were also presented at the ongoing Digestive Disease Week (“DDW”) conference in Chicago. “The EREFS is an important, validated visual index of severity of EoE disease in the esophagus of patients. It measures edema, rings and strictures and other visible markers of disease often associated with symptoms. Today’s data demonstrated improvement in two key outcomes with EP-104GI in the treatment of EoE: first, that a full injection protocol of 20 injections resulted in more pronounced improvement than a protocol with fewer injections and less coverage area within the esophagus; second, with the higher number of injections, a consistent response in both the inflammatory and fibrotic sub scores of EREFS was observed,” said Dr. James A. Helliwell, Chief Executive Officer of Eupraxia. “This EREFS data being reported at DDW is consistent with the improvements we have seen in EoE symptoms and tissue health (EoEHSS) and suggests improvement in inflammation, fibrosis and the associated narrowing of the esophagus.”
