Wal-mart Stores, Inc. (WMT) is testing out ways to implement new employee structure in its stores. The company aims to reduce its mid-level store managers move in an attempt to reduce its labor cost but at the same time channelizing the right talent in the company.
Wal-morts additional goal is to have store managers remain at the top position & the new position as “business leads” and “team leads” to be ranked under store managers. Business leads are due to draw a 10% higher salary than current assistant store managers and team leads are to earn $18 an hour. To help imbibe the new structure which is already in place for 75 of its stores, the company will provide lower ranked staffs with additional support, training and better recognition.
