As per reports, Wal-mart Stores, Inc. (WMT) recently announced its decision to stop the sale of handguns as well as ammunition for assault-style weapons after the two recent deadly shootings at the retailer’s stores. The recent gun violence in the U.S has been drawing attention from fund-management firms to list companies based on inputs including environmental, social, and governance factors.
BlackRock is set to create new products excluding gun makers, after the Parkland, Fla. shooting last year. Walmart was excluded from the two ESG exchange-traded firms, iShares MSCI KLD 400 Social ETF (DSI) and iShares MSCI USA ESG Select ETF (SUSA), as on April 30.
