Walmart Introduces Extended Benefits To Customers With Its Walmart+ Program

Walmart Stores, Inc. (WMT) announced its new membership program Walmart+, offering in-store and online benefits to its customers, including free delivery, fuel discounts, and no checkout lines. The subscription will cost $98 a year or $12.95 a month and will be available to all U.S.-based customers starting Sept. 15.

“We are a company committed to meeting our customers’ needs. We’ve designed this program as the ultimate life hack for them,” stated Janey Whiteside, chief customer officer at Walmart.

Walmart+ members will benefit from same-day delivery on more than 160,000 items from toys to groceries with orders of minimum value of $35. Members of Walmart’s similar service called “Delivery Unlimited,” will automatically become Walmart Plus members. The members will be able to scan their purchases as they shop and pay without having to wait in line. Walmart+ members can save up to 5 cents a gallon at nearly 2,000 Walmart, Murphy USA, and Murphy Express fuel stations with Sam’s Club fuel stations to be lined up soon.

The launch aims to both attract new customers and turn existing ones as loyal shoppers. Walmart rival Amazon.com Inc offers its U.S. shoppers fast shipping, streaming video, and other services with its Amazon Prime membership costing $119 a year or $12.99 a month.
