Walmart Expands Veterinary Care Offering By 100 Clinics

It is good news for pet owners as Walmart is set to launch 100 veterinary clinics in its stores over a span of 12 months adding to the list of 21 existing operational clinics. The clinics to provide vaccines and assist in basic health and care needs of pets. In addition to the above clinics, the multinational retail giant is also planning to launch its online pet pharmacy “WalmartPetRX.com” which will offer low-cost prescription from more than 300 brands for pets. The growing market for vet care is phenomenal, as per American Pet Products Association $72.5 billion has been spent on pets in the U.S last year and spend of $75.3 billion is expected this year. Pet owners have become more conscious of what are they feeding their pets as the “fresh” food category is recording sales. Apart from food owners are spending a significant amount on pet care, supplies, and medicines. Other retailers like Amazon (AMZN), Target (TGT), and Petco are also targeting the vet care market and are not way behind. Wal-mart Stores, Inc.
