The Visa Foundation Granted $2M To Support Frontline Workers In North America

Reportedly, The Visa Foundation has granted $2M for COVID-19 relief programs to organizations in the U.S. and Canada that are supporting the frontline workers and assisting in critical poverty alleviation. The organizations include Feeding America, Food Banks Canada, American Red Cross, Direct Relief, and Children’s Aid.

The North America funding includes $1 million to support hunger relief across the U.S. and Canada to Feeding America and Food Banks Canada, respectively. The additional funds to support first-line responders and health care workers through grants to the American Red Cross and Direct Relief. The funds also support New York’s children living in poverty through the Children’s Aid Society.

“Families and communities already living in impoverished conditions are struggling to meet basic needs in the face of the COVID-19 pandemic. These grants from the Visa Foundation will provide immediate assistance to address urgent needs such as hunger, poverty alleviation, and disaster relief for first responders and families across the U.S. and Canada,” said Oliver Jenkyn, president, North America at Visa Inc. 

The foundation is also working to assist small and micro businesses, focussing on fostering women’s economic advancement, an important element to economic recovery after the COVID-19 pandemic, with its forthcoming 5-year $200M programs.
