Performance Based Targets On Hold For Pregnant Athletes Per Nike

Recently the Sportswear giant Nike faced severe criticism for holding payments of its athletes pregnant or on maternal leave. Hence in order to show support, the company has decided to waive off performance-based targets for their pregnant athletes for 12 months, as reported in the New York Times. The company made changes in the agreement and assured no female athletes will be “penalized financially for pregnancy”. NIKE, Inc. Nike to waive performance targets for pregnant athletes – report

American middle-distance runner Alysia Montano and British distance runner Jo Pavey both said earlier this month that Nike had stopped their sponsorship payments while pregnant.
