As per reports, Microsoft Corp (MSFT) is still in talks to strike a deal by Sept. 15 for TikTok’s U.S., Canada, Australia, and New Zealand operations from the Chinese internet giant ByteDance. The deal would help Microsoft build on its $27 billion purchase of LinkedIn to become a bigger player in internet advertising, which is now dominated by Facebook Inc and Google. Microsoft ensured that all private data of TikTok’s American users are transferred to and remains in the United States, after a conversation between U.S. President Donald Trump and CEO Satya Nadella.
“Microsoft fully appreciates the importance of addressing the President’s concerns. It is committed to acquiring TikTok subject to a complete security review and providing proper economic benefits to the United States, including the United States Treasury,” Microsoft said in a statement.
