Microsoft (MSFT) is reportedly strengthening its partnership with Samsung Electronics Co by blending in Office applications with Samsung’s latest launch Galaxy Note 10. At the unveiling event in New York recently, the companies confirmed that the new phone will come with an Outlook email app pre-installed and offer office applications to users. The initiative is expected to encourage more customers to use Office on mobile phones. The Microsoft and Samsung association started with the launch of Samsung’s Galaxy S6 and S7. The partnership is further speculated to benefit Samsung in competing with its rivals like Apple Inc., Huawei Technologies Co, and other Chinese vendors and help Microsoft sustain its position in the phone market and grow it’s Office and Windows PC software business.
Additional features offered on Note 10:
• The phone to offer “Link to Windows” to users allowing synchronizing text messages and photos wirelessly between a Samsung phone and a Windows PC with the help of Microsoft account.
• A new and enhanced mechanism of Samsung’s DeX to allow users to connect Note 10 via a USB cable to a Mac or PC and allow viewing of phone interface as a computer application.
• Support file transfers.
