As per reports, Microsoft (MSFT) co-founder Bill Gates has stepped down from the company’s board to focus on philanthropic works related to global health, welfare, education, and climate change. Bill Gates along with his wife Melinda runs one of the world’s largest charities, the Gates Foundation helping to combat disease and poverty.
“It’s been a tremendous honor and privilege to have worked with and learned from Bill over the years,” stated Chief Executive Officer Satya Nadella.
The billionaire left his full-time executive role at Microsoft in 2008 and continued as chairman of the board till 2014. The board now consists of 12 members after Gates’s departure.
