Reportedly, McDonald’s Corporation (MCD) has volunteered to give away free meals to healthcare and first-line workers for the next two weeks starting from April 22 until May 5.
“We have been inspired by the way our franchisees have been going above and beyond to support their local communities throughout this trying time. I couldn’t be more proud of how our company, franchisees and supplier partners have come together to give back to those who are working tirelessly for our country. That is truly our McDonald’s system at its best,” stated Joe Erlinger, president, McDonald’s USA, in a statement.
Firstline and healthcare workers need to display their work badge or need to be in uniforms to avail the “Thank You” breakfast, lunch or dinner meals. The company is struggling globally as the coronavirus has created havoc around the world. Globally, 75 percent of McDonald’s stores remain open, with all restaurants closed in the countries of Italy, France, Spain, and the United Kingdom to encourage social distancing.
Coronavirus “has significantly disrupted the McDonald’s business”, the company informed, adding that it “expects to reduce capital expenditures by approximately $1 billion for 2020 as a result of fewer Experience of the Future projects across the U.S. and a reduced number of new restaurant openings in most markets around the world.”
McDonald’s Corporation (MCD) is the leading global foodservice retailer with nearly 37,000 locations in over 100 countries. The Corporation operates and franchises McDonald’s restaurants in the US and across the globe with over 90% of its restaurants owned and operated by local, independent businessmen and women.
