As per reports, McDonald’s Corporation (MCD) to introduce “McPlant” in 2021, a line of plant-based meat alternatives driven primarily by concerns over meat’s effects on consumer’s health, the environment, and also animal welfare. The fast-food giant to offer chicken substitutes, plant-based burgers, and breakfast sandwiches.
Recently, McDonald’s also tested its plant-based burger in Canada with a producer of plant-based meat, Beyond Meat.
“We are excited about the opportunity because we believe we have a proven, delicious-tasting product,” stated Ian Borden, who heads McDonald’s international operations.
However, the company’s 70% of sales in its key markets are still generated from flagship products like the “Big Mac”, “McNuggets” and French fries. The company did not confirm which supplier it would use for its McPlant line of products.
