Is Apple Selling Its iTunes Customer Data?

Apple’s advertising promise “What happens on your iPhone stays on your iPhone” is under question as reportedly Apple (AAPL) has been sued by customers using iTunes claiming their personal information has been sold and unlawfully disclosed. Two customers from Rhode Island and one from Michigan representing their home states filed a case in federal court in San Francisco. According, to the complaint the leakage of data violates and targets sensitive members of the society.

Under states’ respective privacy law as compensation customers are seeking $250 each for Rhode Island iTunes customer data and $5,000 each for Michigan customers. No comment from Apple was reported on the lawsuit.
