How Will The African Swine Fever Affect McDonald’s?

By John Heerdink LinkedIn

As per reports, the recent African swine fever could alter the fast-food giant Mc Donald’s menu offerings. McDonald’s CEO Steve Easterbrook stated, “African swine fever hurts us a little on the pork”. “That limits the movements of pork and pushes it up here in the U.S.” as reported to CNBC.

Swine fever affecting pigs would primarily cause a shortage in pork items as prices of pork go up. McDonald’s mainly offers pork products in its breakfast menu i.e. in their bacon, egg, and, cheese biscuit. Though the Chicago based company claims to be well equipped with any supply chain glitches, Easterbrook stated “We’ve got a well-established supply chain and hedge wherever we possibly can and minimize the impact of these things, but the reality is we’re subject to the same kind of pressures on this as everyone else,” as per reports.
