As per reports, Honeywell to acquire privately-held Sparta Systems, a leading provider of enterprise quality management software including a next-generation SaaS platform for the life sciences industry for $1.3 billion in an all-cash transaction from New Mountain Capital. The acquisition will strengthen Honeywell’s leadership in industrial automation, enterprise performance management software, and digital transformation solutions.
The company will leverage Sparta Systems and combine it with the Forge platform and Experian Process Knowledge System to expand deeper into life sciences, benefitting its customers with advanced digital QMS solutions in the U.S., Europe, and Asia. Sparta’s technologies will further boost Honeywell’s breakthrough initiative to further dive into the life sciences market and strengthen its existing portfolio of advanced automation and process control technologies.

Honeywell will continue to work to enhance TrackWise Digital QMS by adding AI and machine learning capabilities that improve human decision making. The company will also add new IoT-enabled connectivity between quality and operational data to identify manufacturing anomalies and triage quality events in real-time. The innovations will assist customers to address quality to improve patient safety and well set regulatory compliance.
Sparta Systems is headquartered in Hamilton, N.J comprises 250 employees globally and serves more than 400 customers including top pharma and medical device companies. The deal is expected to close by the end of the first quarter of 2021 and is subject to regulatory approvals and other customary closing conditions. There is no change to Honeywell’s 2020 financial outlook as a result of the acquisition.
