Brazil Lifts Boeing 737 MAX Ban – Expects Aircraft To Fly By Year-End

By John F. Heerdink, Jr.

Reportedly, the Brazilian aviation regulator ANAC has lifted the grounding of the Boeing (BA) 737 MAX after the aircraft received U.S clearance following a 20-month-old ban. Earlier, the European Union Aviation Safety Agency (EASA) laid out conditions like new training and updating MCAS software involved in the crashes for putting the grounded jets back into operations.

The only airline to operate the aircraft in Brazil, the Gol Linhas Aereas Inteligentes SA, is following the required measures to resume flights and expects to resume flying Boeing 737 MAX jets by year-end.

The European Union Aviation Safety Agency (EASA) differed from the FAA in the opinion to disengage the stick-shaker, to prevent its distracting the pilots, if it has been erroneously activated. It further issued one temporary restriction on autopilot use, unlike the United States.

Canada is also expected to lift the ban but in China, the aircraft’s major market the ban lift still remains uncertain.
