Boeing To Inspect 787 Dreamliner Fuselages

By John F. Heerdink, Jr.

Reportedly, Boeing’s quality inspections in regard to its earlier known production flaws in its 787 Dreamliner found some similar issue in other parts of the jet. Earlier this month, the company said that the 787 production issues were taking longer than expected, obstructing the U.S. planemaker’s ability to deliver jets to customers through December.

Boeing informed that inspection of assembled 787 aircraft found that some areas where fuselage segments are joined were not as smooth as recommended. However, the company stated that the problem does not pose an imminent safety hazard.

An FAA official stated to Reuters “none of the issues raised recently are considered to be immediate safety concerns, adding that it “takes these quality concerns seriously and continues to be involved in the discussions about any mitigations.”
