
“And They’re Back” – Vista Partners Daily Market Recap 1/15/2019

Stocks were back up again on Tuesday with all three of the major indices building on early gains throughout the day. The Nasdaq was up 1.71% (117.92 points) by the time markets closed, and the S&P 500 gained 1.07% (27.96 points). The Dow had a slightly more volatile day but still ended in the green with an increase of 0.65% (155.75 points).
Individual components of the Dow were mostly up today, although some did end the day in the red. Most notably, the 3M Company (MMM) tumbled 1.68%. United Health Group (UNH) did quite well with an increase of 3.55%, and Microsoft (MSFT) also saw significant gains today as it rose 2.90%.
Atossa Genetics (ATOS) had tumbled 5.26% by the time trade ended, finishing the day at $1.26 per share.
Tomorrow will bring earnings results for several big name companies including Bank of America (BAC) and Goldman Sachs (GS). Hopes aren’t especially high, as many US banks have struggled recently – but we’ll know for sure tomorrow. Other big names that will be reporting tomorrow after the bell rings include Alcoa (AA) and CSX (CSX).
